I've been holding out on you all. I have a couple projects I've been working on that I've never posted the pictures. Well, here's one. According to the book I'm using, Amish Adventure: A Workbook for Color in Quilts, the background is chosen FIRST. Three shades of it. THEN, the alternate color is chosen. Two shades there. That dark green is actually a lovely Forest Green. The white isn't white either. It's a light beige.
I love it. I truly do. Vince hates it. He truly does. But then, he doesn't see it like I do: As I want it to be. The quilting is where I will break with tradition. Sorta. I'm going with squiggles and dogwoods. MAYBE some feathers in the wide border (if I can't think of something else).
The other project I've already shown the "Before" picture of the quilting samples that I want to make into AAQI donation quilts. Here, you'll see I've begun. None of these are finished. They're just in various stages of design. As an idea hits me I work on it until I can't figure out what comes next. Some of those quilting samples are a bit ugly, but if I go primitive and if I add lots of embelishments and paint, they'll look okay.

Love the Amish quilt!!
Can't wait to see how you add your touch!
Have a fun time off work. Love what you are working on. I hope you'll share before/after photos & insights on the project you want to embellish and paint on.

I can totally picture that Amish quilt done! When I first saw it,and before I read your post, I thought, that is a great canvas to show off quilting! The other one is so artistic!
I think your Amish quilt is great...and what a great "canvas" for your beautiful quilting. Maybe Vince will like it better after its' quilted? And I love R Horton's book. It's really good lessons in Amish quilts.
I think your quilting samples as AAQI quilts is a great idea. They're looking good so far!
Have a great weekend!
