Vince and I celebrate Christmas Eve with his family and Christmas Day on the phone/skype with my family. We open gifts in the early morning and leave the paper on the floor for the kitties. We often have a guest over the holiday season. That's our kind of gift.
About me: I've been quilting for only 4 or so years. My first quilt was a heavy denim thing that quilted crooked and bunchy. I swore I'd never make another quilt again. Luckily, I have a neighbor who showed me the right way to quilt. She gave me a book, a box of fabric and a cutting mat. What could I do?
Growing up, my family had a HUGE christmas. There were only six of us, but there were so many gifts, we often had to rearrange the room just to get to the tree so we could light it up. We also had heavy, overflowing stockings for each of us. While I miss the fuss and excitement of that, I love the intimacy of our quiet little traditions here.

It was in the 70's here in Texas. No snow this Christmas.
Love seeing the tree all covered in snow, I do miss the freshness after a snowfall as in Florida we just do not have the white stuff, Christmas Day most times the kids show up in shorts.. this is when I miss the north

Wow... Your photo of the snow-blanketed evergreen tree in a wintry forest makes my heart ache for the Minnesota Christmases of my childhood. We didn't see a single snowflake all winter long in North Carolina last year. Thanks for sparking those memories, and Merry Christmas!

Your snowy tree reminds me of my childhood Christmases in upstate NY, and the years spent in other cold snowy places! Christmas is a quiet time for us, the kids are grown and live on the opposite coast and we all tend to like being in our own homes for Christmas.

What fun Christmas memories. My husband and I also celebrate Christmas like you guys do. While I don't always get to quilt, I also love it when Christmas is quiet enough that I can get a few hours of quilting in.
