Block Placement

While I’m working on my Hop to It hourglass blocks, I have my ThreadHead Quilt Along 2012 blocks on my design wall.  I want it to sit awhile to see if this is the placement I want.



It most probably is what I’ll go with.  I’ll make scrappy green triangles to mottle the background.  Often, when I make a scrappy background, I’ll FMQ lines or lines of something (feathers, etc.) across the seam lines so as to blend the colors a bit.  So, in this case, I’d make zigzag lines following the blocks.  However, The columnar look of this quilt speaks strongly to me.  So I think I want to emphasize the columns more, so I think I will make straight vertical lines in the triangles/sashing.  It’ll unify the items within the column.  At least, that’s what I’m thinking right now.  More to come.
